Shit Happens...

.... and happens and happens and happens and keeps happening over and over, every now and then. There are just two ways to deal with
1. you learn to prevent it from happening
2. you, since you find way 1 a bit too much for yourself, let it happen and then you learn to clean it up.

None of the ways is easy. If you master the first way, you are good enough to write self-help books and are ready to let other people benefit from it. But then you would have to be of the likes of Stephen Covey, Jack Cannfield, Lance Armstrong, Ernesto Guevara, Matthew Perry, Beethoven, Einstein, Nelson Mandela, Maradona, Gautam Budhha etc etc.
The above mentioned guys are/were exceptions and if you know, and you really know, that you cant be any of the above, you follow the latter path which is the pedestrian way, used by one and all, the common junta (Junta, a slang term meaning "people" or "group" commonly used around Colleges and Universities in India; pronounced "Jun-tah" i.e. with the "J" sound and not the "H" sound of the Spanish word "junta", derived from the Hindi word Janata or from the Arabic word Jund, military, (Arabic جند, "the military ")). You thus see it beyond your control and learn to deal with consequences.

Logically speaking, second way is much easier. What makes following it difficult is the fear of being labelled ordinary. Lets face it, we dont want to be ordinary/regular. Rightly a question pops up, why dont we want to be ordinary? There are no right or wrong answers to this question, for there are as many plausible answers to it as there are answer seekers. The underlying principle of every answer was given by Charles Darwin in his Theory of Natural Selection and Survival of the Fittest. Being ordinary in a way says that you are not the alpha of the species. And who would not want to be in the win-win situation of being an alpha. It is a case of circular dependence. If you seek answer to the question "why do we want to be alpha?", you are back to square one, the first question. The more I think about it, the more I realise, the answer to both lies in the realm of animal psychology, which is a totally different league altogether and rightly beyond me.

What classifies as ordinary? Anything that is within the capability of the majority of society. Of course, potentially all of us have the same grounding. Do you think nobody could have discovered the Gravitational Laws had Newton kept on sleeping after that wretched apple fell on his head? Somebody could/would have. What made Newton different from that somebody was will. Most of the times a situation is a challenge merely to your will/patience than your mental/physical abilities. So bottomline -> to be extraordinary, you just need to keep patience and have some will power. Now the point I was trying to get at (or I accidentally got at) is that once you are extraordinary, you are good enough to follow the first way and can prevent the crap from hitting the solid earth with a splash/tuk/bhat.

On the other hand, I don't find anything wrong with being ordinary. Honestly, had so many people not been talent wasters, who would have paid heed to talent? Its not as if talent is rare,
its just that we throw around so much of it that we find it rare. Ordinary people make extraordinary extraordinary. We are the audience of this talent show. We applaud them and egg them to go on. Had everyone been a "go-getter" who would have stopped at the stop signs?

Personally speaking, I am at peace being ordinary. Really. Of course there are moments of darkness that make me want to be extraordinary, but then I realise, satisfaction and success are independent. I could be a failure but I could be satisfied. That would qualify me as loser/aimless/impatient and I am just that, more or less. So, I am learning to remain satisfied.

And thus i ranted.

This post is like a long circular sentence, the beginning and the end of which are undefinable. Life is a vicious circle, why else do you think shit happens and happens and happens and keeps happening over and over?

Disclaimer: I could have written more and more that too with some sense (I think). Maria Solheim has the voice of sirens.

Your obsession with Wikipedia seems to be growing by the day.

I think we can learn to be good at way two from some of our wingmates who seem to have developed tremendous endurance capabilities for cleaning up. Being ordinary is way too comfortable to let go of. I mean, who wouldn't want shit to happen at all?

By the way, sounds with which shit can hit the earth can be splash/tuk/bhat/gloob/prrrrrr(if you are diarrhoeic) and all combinations of the above.

P.S.: Good to see a disclaimer after a long time. Lets check if "Vicky's" dabba's getting more than 1 bit/sec for Maria Solheim.

ordinary-extraordinary - stuff we have been fighting with all our lives .

And johnny - do those sounds form a vector space ie - is it possible to express any possible shit dropping sound as a linear combo of the ones you have mentioned ??

The nature of combinations is debatable, although higher order combinations do seem a possibility.

But yes, it does seem that a combination, linear or 2nd order or nth order will solve the issue.

crappy, ordinary, extra-ordinary - all three states co-exist in every person, i suppose.
e.g. you could be a crappy writer, an ordinary student but also an extraordinary zorbonaut!
the 'expertise' might differ in magnitude but it's not something that can't be changed.
ranting seems to be infectious.
great post.

We still don't know if it is the anonymous again.
Heh! As if! Boo!

Yeah man/woman, it has become too tiring to write him/her, he/she, man/woman, etc. now. Either you atleast reveal the gender, or I'm assuming you are a male, for further addressal.
